On 18th July 2024, UNAM President Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed led a delegation to Parliament Malaysia, where they conducted a courtesy call with Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The meeting aimed to deepen collaboration on raising awareness about the role of the United Nations and ASEAN among Malaysians, while highlighting the need for increased youth participation in international affairs.

The discussion touched on key priorities such as advocacy for greater understanding of ASEAN’s regional significance, the promotion of UN values, and encouraging university participation in Model United Nations programs to foster leadership skills and global citizenship among students.

Both parties agreed on the importance of building a society that is well-informed on global issues, particularly within the younger generation, which will be key to Malaysia’s continued contribution to international peace and diplomacy.
