On 17th August 2024, the United Nations Association of Malaysia (UNAM) conducted a collaborative visit to the University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM), marking a new chapter in the long-standing partnership between both institutions. The visit, led by UNAM President Dato’ Seri Mustapa Mohamed, featured productive discussions with UNM’s leadership, including Provost Professor Hazel Melanie Ramos and Dr. Jason Pandya-Wood, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS).
The focus of the discussions was to explore avenues for strengthening academic partnerships, enhancing student engagement, and developing collaborative projects aimed at advancing the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. Both UNAM and UNM emphasized the importance of fostering an academic environment where students are encouraged to engage in international relations, diplomacy, and global issues, particularly through initiatives like Model United Nations (MUN).
Student representatives from the university’s MUN Club were also present, sharing their experiences and discussing future events and projects. The visit concluded with a shared commitment to launching new joint initiatives that will further both parties’ shared goals of promoting education, global citizenship, and youth empowerment.
